Child Welfare Advocacy & Information

Children are among the most vulnerable populations in our society. Trauma, mental health struggles and system involvement add multiple levels of vulnerability. As stewards of these children, it is necessary for us to advocate for their best interests by influencing public policy to support access to critical support services.

Right Turn® has compiled a list of some organizations advocating for the rights and needs of Nebraska’s children to help you begin advocating and supporting Nebraska families and children.

If you have additional needs or questions please call Right Turn® at 888-667-2399.

  • Child Welfare Information Gateway promotes the safety, permanency, and well-being of children, youth, and families by connecting child welfare, adoption, and related professionals as well as the public to information, resources, and tools covering topics on child welfare, child abuse and neglect, out-of-home care, adoption, and more.

  • CWLA publishes Children’s Voice magazine, Child Welfare journal, the National Blueprint for Excellence in Child Welfare, and hundreds of books. Under the imprint CWLA Press, we produce the most respected publications in the areas of adoption, foster care, residential treatment, cultural competence, pregnancy and parenting, independent living, and permanency.

  • Nebraska Appleseed is a nonprofit organization that fights for justice and opportunity for all Nebraskans. We take a systemic approach to complex issues – such as child welfare, immigration policy, affordable healthcare and poverty – and we take our work wherever we believe we can do the most good, whether that’s at the courthouse, in the statehouse or in the community.

  • Nebraska Children and Families Foundation supports children, young adults and families at risk with the overall goal of giving our state's most vulnerable kids what they need to reach their full potential. We do this by building strong communities that support families so their children can grow up to be thriving, productive adults.
